DanceTalks is a panel discussion designed to provide an opportunity for dancers, choreographers, parents, visual artists, filmmakers, and educators hear and engage with other expert dance practitioners and professionals in dance scholarship, cultural studies and education facilitate discussions on culture, “race”, identity, diversity, and multiculturalism through creative conversation. DanceTalks is geared to facilitate such dialogue, help others engage in such discussion and assist and may help audience members further clarify and evaluate their positions regarding personal views on culture, “race”, identity, diversity, and multiculturalism. Dance has cultural integrity of its own and is a tool for integrating such dialogue and helping people discover the world around them through its cultural exposure and increasing their understanding of the positions of others and the positions of themselves.
